This past week I signed up for an online game hosted by Firepole Marketing that will help me with my marketing skills and be lots of fun and I’d like to invite you to join me.
What is The Great Online Marketing Scavenger Hunt?
“This will be a five week event with over 100 challenges to complete for points, skills and glory. We’ll be taking you through the paces of networking and guest posting, mastering the social web, multi-media, writing, researching and maybe even stepping away from the computer and into the real world once in a while.” – Firepole Marketing
I’m loving how this works even though I was a bit overwhelmed at the beginning. It’s FREE to join and you could win prizes. Even if you don’t however, you will try new things, meet new friends and learn a little something. Anyone can join.
To join in, you have to create a tumblr blog which you use to document all the challenges you complete using screenshots. You can see my tumblr blog to see what I mean. You are also in charge of keeping score of three other participants by visiting their tumblr blog, adding up their points and marking them down on a spreadsheet once a week.
What Sort of Challenges?
There are some general challenges (commenting on the Firepole Marketing blog or gaining new subscribers to your blog), Networking/Guest Posting (guest post accepted by another blogger, accept a guest post, write a review on Linkedin, update your about page etc.), Social Media Mastery (create accounts or prove ownership on instagram/pinterest/quora/linkedin/google, join a linkedin group, create a Facebook page for your business etc), Multimedia (create video intro, make powerpoint presentation, create infographic, design ebook cover), Writing/Reading/Researching (write paragraph for given headline, write headlines for given paragraph, caption photo, create a survey) and In Real Life (picture of you in your office, create a resume, photo iof you in your funny hat, volunteer your time/money)
With over 100 challenges total plus bonus ones found on Firepole Marketing’s blog and social media accounts, there are lots of things to do!
Will You Join Me?
There is still a whole month left to join us in this hunt. A participant made a facebook group as well and many of us have been chatting and getting to know each other on there.
I believe in honesty so I want you to know I do get points for writing a blog post about the event and if anyone joins in the scavenger hunt and mentions my scavenger hunt name (BlogathonBash) when they submit their tumblr blog, I earn a few more points. However I am not really worried too much about the points, I’m having fun and learning and I wanted my readers to know so you won’t miss out on this great opportunity.
My name is Kathleen Garber and I love blogging and social media. I've been blogging on and off since 2003 and this blog is just one of many that I run.
That does sound like fun, but I've really got my hands full right now. I'll definitely consider it in the future though.
This does sound pretty interesting! I am going to look into this more later when I have time to sit down and look at the challenges! :)
Wow. I am already in an April blogging challenge but this is different from anyone I have other done, so I am considering joining. This is a good opportunity to get involved in something different with my tumblr blog. Thanks for all of this cool information.
